Is there anything more exciting than moving into your very own apartment?! Nopeee. Well, there is the downside of doing your own laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. buttttt styling your own place and #adulting is worth the late night Sunday laundry scramble. You get to try out new routines, go shopping for fun decor and pretend to adult.
It can be hard making your apartment feel like home if you are not allowed to paint – it really is a white box. Whatever your style is, we’ve rounded up a few ways to make your space feel like you! There is nothing better than coming home, after a long day, and lounging around in a cozy environment!
How to Make Your Apartment Feel Like Home
You don’t need to spend a lot of money to make your space fabulous!
This couch is from Ikea, the coffee table is under $100 from Wayfair, the velvet pillows are from Home Goods & the lamps are from Target! There are gems at Home Goods and TJ Maxx!
Make it Cozy
Add throw pillows, area rugs, blankets & warm touches to soften your apartment! I have two throws in our living room, one is a cable knit material & the other is a faux fur blanket. There is nothing I enjoy more than cozying up in a warm blanket and drink a glass of tea…oh AND cuddling too!!
Add Lighting
The right lighting scheme turns a drab space into an intimate and cozy one, so it should be one of the first things you tackle when you move in – it is such a necessity. Ask my college roommate…I had 4 lights in my tiny bedroom. I am alllll about the lighting!
Choose a Scent
Candles and diffusers are great ways to make your apartment feel like home. Candles help you relax, get comfortable, and set a serene ambiance. These are all qualities of a home, so you should definitely explore them. Lighting even one candle in your room or living room will spark so many warm feels. We love the scents below –
Hang Artwork and Display Photos of Family + Friends
Pictures are a surefire way to make your space feel like home. Let them vary and be a time capsule of various parts of your life. Your friends and family have always been something you associate with home. Even though they will just be pictures of them, it will make all the difference. We love hanging artwork on the walls to make your space feel like YOU!
Surround Yourself with Florals
Not only do plants help your air, they also make your apartment feel homier! We love to display fresh flowers, succulents & plants. I have a money tree in my apartment, multiple succulents & I try and always have flowers (even though my cat destroys them).
